Mining & Coal Cleaning

Lower expenses, greater profits!

Flipscreen can be used in any mining operation requiring a primary separation and crushing process!

The FlipScreen is making great inroads in the mining industry. After many years of being a peripheral machine for processing contaminated stockpiles, now the flipscreen is at the forefront of the mining process.

There are many uses for the Flipscreen technology in mining, for example; Flipscreen’s success in the demolition industry is due to the revolutionary open barrel with no internal moving parts, enabling harsh materials such as rebar and large concrete slabs to rotate inside the drum and exit without fouling.

Nitropril cleaning

As in the fertiliser industry; the machines which deliver Nitropril require the product to be in its’ original “prilled” form. When this material is exposed to moisture it forms lumps and as a result of these lumps the machinery delivering the Nitropril at the blast site can fail leading to costly delays. This material can be screened at the point of loading using a Flipscreen screening bucket which can size 2 tons of Nitropril in as little as eight seconds.

All Weather Road Gravel

Millions of dollars a year are lost through the use of substandard lumpy gravel on access roads in mines. Mine managers report dump truck tyres lasting only 4000 hours where 8000 is achievable. Mechanical damage to trucks and occupational health and safety costs are acknowledged but often not addressed. The ability to work further shifts in wet conditions is lost due mostly to the make up of the mine access roads. By screening lumps from existing roads and by Flipscreening new gravel to put on the entire network; a mine can achieve massive savings in wear and tear along with faster turn around times for trucking.

Coal recovery (Coal Cleaning)

Where the coal contains shale, intrusion, or other contaminants, the Flipscreen can process the coal to a higher grade and therefore achieve a premium in approximately eight seconds per bucket. The WL3000 is a 90m³ Flipscreen. The WL3000 will utilize Flipscreen’s unique patented system to provide high volume, mobile, customizable, and cost-effective screening and crushing solutions to the mining industry. The WL3000 will scoop up 50 tonnes of material and transform this from mixed fines and oversize to saleable sized material in 76 seconds. Resulting in a 1400 tonne per hour result per machine. These new mining practices and processes will liberate capital from balance sheets to revolutionize the mining industry. In the case of iron ore mining where crushing is required, the WL3000 computer can be set to crush mode to break up oversized material during the process.

Flipscreen Mining Capability Statement (2020)

As seen in the capability statement above:

Two distinct scenarios that Flip Screen can help to improve major project criteria – namely capital expenditure, running costs, productivity & profitability.

1. Unviable Mine

Mine is sitting unused due to viability constraints of capital expenditure vs turnover.

2. Traditional Site

The quality of the samples can be increased with the addition of a Flipscreen. Furthermore, rocks (intrusion) coming through the plant conventionally, not only slow the process but increase maintenance costs.  Thus, the presence of a WL3000, increases both the production output and the sample quality, while decreasing maintenance costs, all increasing the Profitability.

SOLUTION – In both scenarios, the presence of a Flipscreen eradicates the need for any extra capital expenditure, whilst providing greater throughput in existing infrastructure. The Flipscreen reduces the operating costs and saves on time in the operation which results in greater profitability.

We predict a production increase of up to 15% for most sites. We also deliver a greater quality product and our total profit increase is enormous. Uptime of 99%.

Used in mines all across the world the FlipScreen is scalable to any carrier such as the WL3000 project that will culminate with a machine which processes 30 tonnes at a time at “the coal face “. Current versions of the best screening technology can be used in any mining operation requiring primary separation and crushing process’s such as:

  • Gold Ore
  • Bauxite
  • Contaminated coal
  • Iron Ore
  • Nitropril
  • All-weather gravel road

Where the coal contains shale, intrusion, or other contaminants, the Flipscreen can process the coal to a higher grade and therefore achieving a premium in approximately eight seconds per bucket. The WL3000 will process 30 tonnes of coal per 76-second cycle, resulting in an hourly rate of 1,410 tonnes per hour. In the case of iron ore mining where crushing is required, the WL3000 computer can be set to crush mode to break up oversized material during the process.

The WL3000 project’s outcome is achieving market penetration and expansion of Flip Screen units into large-scale mining applications. Built to suit CAT 994, Komatsu WA1200, and LeTourneau L-2350, the WL3000 will utilise Flip Screen’s unique patented system to provide high volume, mobile, customisable and cost-effective screening and crushing solutions to the mining industry. The WL3000 will scoop up 50 tonnes of material and transform this from mixed fines and oversize to saleable sized material in 76 seconds. These new mining practices and processes will liberate capital from balance sheets to revolutionise the mining industry.
