Street Sweeper Waste Separation Using FlipScreen Attachment

Arizona, USA

Agua Trucks LLC needed a reliable way to separate litter and debris from the dirt collected by their street sweepers while also reclaiming valuable track-out rock. Using FlipScreen attachments, they were able to efficiently screen sweepings, separate trash from soil, and recover reusable rock while reducing waste disposal.

Agua Trucks LLC

Agua Trucks LLC needed a practical method to separate litter and debris from the dirt collected by their street sweepers while also dealing with track-out rock collected from job sites. Without screening, this mixed material would typically need to be disposed of as contaminated waste, increasing landfill and disposal costs. The company also wanted to recover reusable material where possible, particularly track-out rock that could be repurposed rather than discarded. Traditional screening equipment was not suited to their workflow, which involved relatively small but regular volumes of material collected during sweeping operations. The process required a simple, efficient solution that could be operated with existing equipment while allowing dirt, trash, and rock to be screened individually.

Challenge

Agua Trucks implemented FlipScreen attachments as their primary screening solution. Initially using a skid steer with an S30 FlipScreen, the system allowed operators to screen the collected sweeper material and separate litter from the dirt. The process also enabled a second pass to separate track-out rock from the screened dirt so it could be reused. As their operations evolved, Agua Trucks rebuilt their sweeper washout and cleaning area and introduced an excavator fitted with an E20 FlipScreen. This setup significantly improved efficiency, allowing the operator to simply swing the excavator boom between piles rather than repositioning a machine. The FlipScreen attachments provided a flexible, mobile screening solution that integrated easily into their existing workflow.

Solution

The FlipScreen attachments are now used approximately once per week to process sweeper material and track-out rock. Operators can efficiently separate litter from soil, allowing the trash to be disposed of while the screened dirt and rock can be reused or managed separately. The ability to process the material directly in the yard simplifies handling and reduces the need to treat the entire load as contaminated waste. By reclaiming track-out rock and separating litter from soil, Agua Trucks has improved the efficiency of its cleanup process while reducing unnecessary waste disposal. According to the operator, the system works so well they did not even consider alternative screening solutions once they had experienced the performance of their first FlipScreen.
